Physicochemical properties: white or off white powder. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether. Purpose: biochemical research. It is a semi synthetic broad-spectrum penicillin, which is resistant to gram-positive and negative bacteria. The synthesis of bacterial cell wall is inhibited by inactivating transpeptidases on the inner surface of bacterial cell membrane.
