Physicochemical properties (information for reference): white leafy crystal or crystalline powder. Odorless. It tastes slightly bitter. It is stable in air, but it will decompose under sunlight. In the presence of water, it is easy to react with weak oxidants. 1g is dissolved in 1.5ml ethanol, 12ml benzene, 1ml chloroform, 13ml ether and 18ML water. Its solubility in water increases with the addition of sodium benzoate, and the aqueous solution is weakly alkaline to litmus.
